The Bipra Charan Mohanty Foundation Trust, Bhubaneswar felicitated Basanta Kumari Samanta on 24 November 2017, a letter of congratulation that pointed to her recognition by institutions including the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi and the N.C.E.R.T. as evidence of a body of work built over decades — one of several instances where Odisha's literary and cultural trusts turned their attention to a painter who, until then, was better known chiefly within art circles.
