While serving as a Teacher Educator at D.I.E.T. Ganjam, Khallikote, Basanta Kumari Samanta authored a paper titled 'Developing Desirable Values Among Primary School Children Through Creative Art (Drawing)' — an argument, drawn from her own classroom practice, for using drawing as a tool of moral and creative education. The paper won the NCERT Award in the National Council of Educational Research and Training's All India Competition on Innovations in Teacher Education, 1998-99, placing her painting practice directly in service of her decades-long parallel career as an art educator.
