Basanta Kumari Samanta's association with the Sindhu-Urmi Sahitya Sansad, Khallikote and its Raja Utsav dates back at least to 2022, when the Sansad — working with the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation — presented her a Prashansa Patra (appreciation letter) for reciting a self-composed poem at the festival. It was a modest recognition at the time, but it marks the start of a relationship with the same Khallikote literary sabha that would honour her far more prominently four years later, with the Sindhu-Urmi Rajarani Samman at the 2026 Raja Mahotsav.
